Olga is a skilled architectural graduate with a Bachelor of Architecture from Kazakhstan and a Master of Architecture from Unitec in Auckland. Olga plays a key role in all stages of the architectural process, from initial concept design through to construction observation. She particularly enjoyed overseeing the retrofitting of an early 20th-century villa, guiding the project from concept to completion. During this project, Olga ensured that alterations made to the villa in the 1970s were rectified in a more sympathetic way, preserving the historical integrity of the structure while accommodating modern needs.
Olga's passion for built heritage began during her college studies in Kazakhstan, where she travelled to Western Kazakhstan to work on the conservation of a local ancient necropolis. Eager to expand her knowledge, she furthered her expertise by completing a specialized online course at the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), focusing on the maintenance and repair of historic structures. Olga is particularly drawn to the integration of historical research with contemporary architecture and advocates for the sustainable preservation and adaptive reuse of heritage buildings, ensuring their longevity. |
