Training I am a scholar and educator specialising in sustainable urban transformation including disaster preparedness, retrofit, and adaptive reuse, driven by emerging digital technologies.
Memberships During 2020-2023, I completed a term as an elected Board Member of the International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). I currently chair the National Committee, ICOMOS Aotearoa New Zealand. I am an Expert Member of the International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage (ISCARSAH), and I am a Member of the CIPA Heritage Documentation Scientific Committee. I currently serve as an Associate Investigator at Te Hiranga Rū QuakeCoRE NZ Centre for Earthquake Resilience.
Experience My research, teaching, and practice pursue sustainable urban transformation in response to natural hazards, supported by emerging digital technologies and with the aim of enhancing disaster preparedness and neighborhood livability. I employ mixed-method spatial studies focused on documentation, assessment, retrofit and adaptive reuse of existing and historic buildings and sites. Since completing my doctoral studies in 2020 focusing on the conservation and seismic retrofit of historic unreinforced masonry precincts in New Zealand, I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Digital Futures at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. I have also worked in professional architectural practice in Australia as a heritage specialist following my studies. Over the course of my research and professional career, I have developed a passion for advocacy, as I believe cultural heritage and intergenerational dialogue are important tools for addressing social issues.
